Jimmy joined Fyffes plc in 1990, having qualified as a chartered accountant in 1989 with KPMG. Jimmy led the development function in Fyffes from 1993 and was appointed to the board of Fyffes in 1999 as Corporate Development Director at the age of 36. He was appointed CEO of Fyffes in 2006 after leading the demerger of Total Produce plc from Fyffes plc. Jimmy left Fyffes in 2008 to become CEO of VHI – Ireland’s largest health insurer. He served as CEO until 2012 and subsequently became Head of Healthcare Advisory in PwC from 2012 to 2014.
Since 2015, Jimmy has been a non-executive Chair of a number of organisations as well as an advisor to Total Produce plc and PwC. He is currently chair of McCauley, one of Ireland’s largest independent pharmacy groups, and is also chair of Carechoice which is one of Ireland’s largest nursing home groups. From 2016 to 2020 he served as chair of Rehab Group, one of Ireland’s largest charities. Jimmy was an adviser to Total Produce plc on its acquisition of Dole Foods and became a director of Dole plc on the completion of its recent IPO in July 2021. Jimmy’s primary interest throughout his entire career has been supporting companies and organisations to achieve significant and sustainable growth and to be innovative.
